Becoming a mother is the most rewarding experience in the world. From the moment you find out you’re expecting to seeing your baby for the first time… you never thought you could love someone so deeply. For children and husbands Mother’s day is a wonderful way of honouring your Mum and wife and showing her how much you love her and how much she means to you. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to spoil her and make her day special. Here are some creative and inexpensive ways you can show Mum you love her. Dads may need to help younger children.
Make Mum a card
Nothing beats a handmade card. Your Mum will love all the love and effort you put into it.
Breakfast in bed
Make Mum her favourite breakfast, whether it’s bacon and eggs, pancakes or even just a piece of toast with a cuppa and take into her with her favourite magazine. You could make it a family affair by throwing a picnic blanket on the bed and eating altogether.
Make a voucher book
A great idea both kids and husbands can make. Make a little book filled with vouchers for things such as vacuuming, washing dishes, doing laundry, big hugs, alone time, anything you think your Mum would love.
Bake cookies in the shape of hearts and wrap them in cellophane. Give them to your Mum while they’re still nice and warm. Homemade cookies are the best!
Take Mum out
You can take your Mum to the beach and let her relax and enjoy the sunshine. Take her to the park for a picnic lunch. Take her to her favourite spots if she has one and take some photos altogether.
Make a memory book
We mothers love photos so grab some special photos and stick them in a photo album or scrapbook and write down why they mean so much to you. Decorate your album or scrapbook with drawings, paintings or stickers.
Make a memory jar
Use an old jar, decorate it and pop in little pieces of paper and write why you love your Mum so much. You could also write down your favourite memories with her. She can read through them whenever she likes.
Make a movie
Use you handy cam and make a little movie about your Mum. This will make her smile and is something she can watch for years to come.
Make a photo slideshow
Get all your favourite photos together and create a slideshow on your computer, give your Mum a cuppa and watch her enjoy all the memories.
Make Mum a storybook
We Mums read to our kids all the time. A great gift would be to have a story book made just for your Mum. You can make up the story, draw all the pictures and read it to her.
Give Mum a massage
If you really want to help your Mum relax give her a massage with some nice oils.
Request Mum’s favourite song
Call your local radio station and request your Mums favourite song, add a personal message to let everyone know how much you love her to make it extra special.
Write for Mum
Write your Mum a letter to show her how much she means to you. You could also write a poem or even a song. Write cute messages on post it notes and stick them all around the house before she wakes up. That is sure to surprise her.
